Dane Cook was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts to Donna Jean (née Ford; passed away in 2006) and George F. Cook (passed away in 2007). He was the second son, with an older half-brother named Darryl and five sisters. Cook was raised in a Catholic family of Irish heritage.

The incident left Cook and his group with minor injuries and forced them to leave the stage. Cook discussed this experience, including his dejection and his vow to someday perform successfully at the Boston Garden, as part of a web series for The Tonight Show called “Worst I Ever Bombed.”
