Early Life

Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph was born in London UK, on October 22, 1992, to parents Heather Carmilla Joseph and Kevin Cornelius Emmons. Both of his parents are British nationals of Caribbean descent with his mother’s family hailing from Dominica and his father’s from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, while his paternal grandfather was Haitian.

Abraham-Joseph’s parents separated when he was young, and at the age of seven, he moved with his mother to Atlanta Georgia.

Abraham Joseph returned to the UK for his uncle’s funeral in June 2005 and stayed for a month before heading back to Atlanta on a visa that allegedly expired a year later.

Early Career

After experiencing a tragedy in his life 21 Savage turned to rap and began his music career. Initially, he received financial support from his friend’s uncle who helped pay for his studio time in 2013. On November 12, 2014, 21 Savage dropped his first single Picky, produced by DJ Plugg.

This track was later included in his debut mixtape The Slaughter Tape which was released on May 25, 2015. This release made him an underground hero in Atlanta, according to Interview Magazine.
