Rakim Hasheem Allen, born on December 9, 1991, was raised in Philadelphia’s Germantown neighborhood by his mother after his father’s murder when he was just three years old.

During his teenage years, he lived in Northeast Philadelphia, where he grew up listening to 2Pac and Jodeci. However, Allen’s troubled past led him to a youth detention program at age 13 for fighting in school and committing robberies.

He faced legal issues again when he was 19, serving 33 months in prison for drug possession and other crimes. After being released, he struggled with homelessness for a short period, never completing high school.

Allen later adopted the stage name PnB Rock, a tribute to the street corner near his childhood home in Germantown called Pastorius and Baynton.

PnB Rock’s early career started with the release of his debut mixtape Real N*gga Bangaz in June 2014. He wrote the mixtape while he was in jail. In 2015 PnB Rock signed with Atlantic Records and released his third mixtape RnB3 as his first project under the label.
